Stimigliano, sorta sulla sommità di una collina sulle sponde settentrionali del Tevere, prende il nome dai Sabini, un popolo fiero, onesto e colto che l'ha abitato prima e durante l'epoca romana. Le sue origini, quindi, affondano nella notte dei tempi. Fu territorio dei romani e, nel Medioevo, dominio dello Stato della Chiesa fino a divenire dimora della famiglia degli Orsini. Il paese oggi parla della sua lunga storia e, ogni luogo, diventa testimonianza delle conquiste del passato, come gli imponenti Palazzi di epoca barocca nel centro storico, il Palazzo Orsini sorto dai resti di un'antica villa romana e le numerose chiese di epoche differenti.

Stimigliano lies on a hill on the northern shores of the Tiber and take his name from the Sabines ,a fierce, honest and educated population that has lived there before and during  the Roman age. It's origins are very ancient. At first It was a Roman territory, than  in the Middle Age was controlled by the Papal State until it became the residence of the Orsini's family. It is possible to  find tracks of Stimigliano's history, that witnessed the past conquests, in the village itself -such as the huge baroque palaces  in the old town- the Orsini's Palace, built from the remains of an ancient Roman Villa and also many churches of different ages.
